More news than you can shake your ass at (try anyway)

The blog has been a bit quiet, though not due to any lack of activity. Truth is, there's been TOO much to cover and not enough time in which to do it. My only net access is at the studio and i've been working my little hot pink ass off on this record, scrambling to get things done, so here comes a freakin' onslaught of news.

-BLUE STAHLI OFFICIAL DEBUT ALBUM
Sure, the singles are all well and good...but they were all leading up to something. A timeframe has been laid the eff down for me to finish this record, which means i am alternating between full on panic and dedicated ass-kickery. Here's the progress:

+ The next single, "Corner" is done and ready to be mixed (this will be the last single before the full album drops, expect live drums from Klayton of Celldweller).

+ i wound up tracking new vocals for the song "Takedown" and i just need to do a bit of editing to find the best performance and this sucker is ready to be mixed.

+ Wrapping up the music and tweaking the arrangement for another track tentatively titled "Doubt" and hashing out the rest of the lyrics.

+ In the middle of live drum edits for a song that i haven't titled yet, but once all the drums are edited "just so", i'll be laying down the rest of the guitars, bass, synths, fx and will hopefully have all my lyrics done at that point so i can track vocals.

+ One song waiting in the wings that just needs me to edit live drums, finish lyrics and slam down the rest of the music and vocals. Saving this mofo for last since it will be the heaviest one on the record.

In addition to scrambling to finish the music, i'm figuring out just exactly how to pull off the photoshoots for the album art within the same timeframe without sacrificing any of the art for the sake of time/budget. Going to be a bit of a blitzkrieg to get this all done (why hello, caffeine!).

-ULTRANUMB REMIX CONTEST WINNERS

The remix contest for ULTRAnumb came to a close and big congratulations go out to GReeNOX, Neon Sky and Armored Defiance for snagging the top 3 places! Head to the main announcement page to check out the runners up. And a massive "THANK YOU" to everybody who remixed, listened, grabbed the stems to play with, spread the word around, voted and just generally played Blue Stahli really freaking loud. i'm hugely appreciative that you guys are digging this stuff enough remix it on your own!

-BLUE STAHLI IN MORE "FROM PARIS WITH LOVE" MOVIE ACTION!

Earlier, i threw a little blog action down that my songs "ULTRAnumb" and "Pure and the Tainted" were in the new trailer for "From Paris With Love". Well, as it turns out, new tv spots (like the one featured above) and the film's official website also use "Kill Me Every Time" and "Accelerant". Very fitting, as i wrote those songs while jumping through a window purely to do backflips and kick people in the face.

-HOW DO *YOU* WANT IT?

If you read this far, you either really dig this stuff or want to satisfy a morbid curiosity to see if i'll post any further goodies. Here's the deal: i hate that my mad dash to complete this album, coupled with the lack of internet at my place of residence has so severely hindered my update/interaction (even if it's just sharing amazing art i stumbled onto). i was thinking of documenting the race to finish this album with random pics and video, but you tell me (either in the comments section of this blog, via twitter or straight up email). What do YOU want?

Pics and Video sound absolutely amazing Bret, whichever you have the time to do.. set up a webcam in the studio.. forget to turn it off and let us watch you on Ustream even, that'd be wicked cool.

All absolutely amazing news Bret, as for what we want....anything you see fit to do will probably be cool, don't want to demand too much and delay the album! How about some sort of fan art contest for the album like the Celldweller chapters?

Dude--and I don't use that word at all often or lightly--that is all great news! I would absolutely love to see both pics and video (if I had to choose, I'd say video, but you should do what ends up being the best compromise between saving time and having fun), and I cannot wait to hear the album!

...Speaking of which, you conveniently avoided mentioning what exactly that release date is. I mean, yeah, if you tell us then there's that whole fan pressure thing (because you totally don't already have that from us), but if you don't tell us, you get pressure from us to, well, tell you. You see how this works I think. Now I'm just rambling like a fool.

P.S. Got to play "Anti You" and "Throw Away" on my friend's awesome in-home sound system, which just made me all kinds of chuffed (sounds crude, I know, but said friend is English and tells me that 'chuffed' just means 'happy'). I've gotten to hear "ULTRAnumb" in a professional studio, so now all that's left is "Kill Me Every Time" and "Scrape" and I'll be able to die happy. Or at least a tad closer to being able to die happy. I'm gonna stop rambling now and let you get back to doing what you're doing, whatever in particular that may be. :D

Love pictures, love videos more. But if editing and taking pictures and videos means we have to wait longer for the album I'd prefer to have neither.

Quicker the Album goes from the studio to my wallet to your pocket and then my ears the better ... YES?

One thing I'd like to see is videos documenting the progress of the album, such as mixing tracks etc.

Good luck with all the work ahead of you, I look forward to blasting the debut album.

I want the album to release as fast as you can :D And it would be great if there would be some kind of special offers with signed copies and shirts going along with the order :D

Alight guys, giving the photo action a go. New feature "Photo Static" (i'll do vid as a "Stahlivision" feature as well).

Thank you ALL for the encouragement and feedback!

specifics:
@Jacob N - You're right, i didn't want to set you all up for disappointment/angry torch wielding, just know that its "really soon" and i promise awesomeness. Glad you got the HQ experience, more coming your way.

@Julian - we're hashing out some special offer stuff and i'm planning some extra special bonus material.

@Yourbeth - i cannot confirm, nor deny, these allegations.

Tbh i think i rather prefer it when you post something when its finished rather that the fan chinese drip water torture that is celldwellers well everything really. The guilt of it never quite being as good as the hype always gets in the end you know...
And yea faster the album's done and on my ipod with my cash in your pocket the better woo!! :)) Some second life concerts would rawk. \o/
